A large packaging and labels client is seeking a pre-press operator to join their team. You will be responsible for assisting with full job strip out and providing full line support in changing the press over. Your duties will include:
- Quality checking regularly to ensure product meets required standards, dealing with any problems.
- Checking inks and varnish numbers, getting ready for jobs.
- Demounting, filing, and cleaning plates and cylinders.
- Manufacturing printing plates and screens in line with APS requirements.
- Reclaiming silk-screens for re-use across the business.
- Monitoring consumable stocks.
- Allocating plates and screens to relevant departments in line with APS requirements.
- Ensuring all machinery is cleaned and maintained in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
- Removing all bespoke items from the press.
- Configuration changes.
- Loading shafts & mag base, cylinders into the press and removal after use.
- Inserting foiling units into the press.
- Cleaning all trolleys (wash-up) daily.
- Supporting the Wash & Build and Plate Bending / Mounting area.
Requirements:
- Experience working within a packaging and/or self-adhesive labels manufacturer - preferable but not essential.
- Experience within print assistant / press support operative.
- Experience of a similar role within a fast-moving label printer / FMCG environment.
- Good organisational and time management skills with a flexible attitude & a team player.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and have good problem-solving skills working to a high standard.
- Will consider all print backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills.
