The role is starting in September and will continue for the rest of the academic year. The school caters for pupils who have an educational plan to receive their education in a specialist provision due to their learning needs.

The school takes pupils who have been identified as not suitable for mainstream education. The pupils are aged 11-16 years old, KS3/4 secondary, all with EHCP plans and additional needs. They have usually experienced some form of trauma, neglect, or chaotic home life.

Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act as a mentor and role model. Due to the barriers the pupils face in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with them. You will use mentoring skills (similar to those used in sports, drama, counselling) to help individuals engage with the school. You will support the pupils both in and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis.

The position is open to all experienced candidates and those with a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school may consider extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
