The Strategic Procurement Team focuses on contracts, analysing data, ensuring compliance, and procuring value for money goods, services & works for the entire Council, including but not limited to Social Care, Corporate Resources, Facilities, Transport, Highways & the Built Environment.
Our client is looking for a Procurement Officer to join a dedicated team in Strategic Procurement. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city and play an active role in future Council development.
As a candidate, you will be expected to demonstrate your ability to meet the special knowledge, experience and qualifications required for the role by providing evidence in the application form for the purpose of shortlisting.
To support and deliver work within the remit of the Procurement Services, Strategic Procurement Team, the key purposes of the post will be to:
- Deliver and support high quality procurement, e-procurement and category management, ensuring the Council spends its money wisely, achieving Value for Money, Social Value and legislative compliance.
- Successfully undertake low to medium value or complexity procurement projects and support the delivery of high value or complex procurements.
- Provide a focal point for guidance to ensure consistent growth in the use of the Council's electronic tendering platform.
- Ensure effective, efficient and improved compliant business processes are adopted and followed by Council service areas involved in the procurement of goods, works or services.
- Assist Departments and Service areas to meet their statutory, corporate and departmental obligations according to national policy/guidance and local policy and priorities, including proper compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, Public Contracts Regulations, Provider Selection Regime and Contracts Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, and other relevant UK Legislation relating to contracting and procurement.
- Undertake training and continuous personal development identified as relevant to the post.
