Job description
Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join our client primary school in Midhurst.
About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners in their early years of education. As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to help children engage with lessons, develop confidence, and thrive in a positive and nurturing classroom environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will be hands-on and varied, including:
Providing targeted support to Year 2 pupils to help them access learning activities
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Assisting with planned lessons and small group work
Supporting emotional well-being and behaviour management to maintain a calm learning space
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies
Adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of pupils
Promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can succeed
Following safeguarding procedures to ensure pupil safety and welfare
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you:
Have experience working with KS1 children, ideally in a teaching assistant or learning support role
Hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Teaching Assistance, Childcare, or a related area (desirable but not essential)
Are patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting children’s learning and development
Are committed to inclusion and helping all children reach their potential
Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team
Can adapt learning activities to suit individual needs
The Details
Location: Midhurst
Position: Year 2 Teaching Assistant
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (full-time)
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: From £ per hour
Eligibility Criteria
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS check (registered with the update service or willingness to apply)
References available upon request
Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete it)
