Prospero Teaching is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join our client primary school in Midhurst.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners in their early years of education. As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to help children engage with lessons, develop confidence, and thrive in a positive and nurturing classroom environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your role will be hands-on and varied, including:

  • Providing targeted support to Year 2 pupils to help them access learning activities

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Assisting with planned lessons and small group work

  • Supporting emotional well-being and behaviour management to maintain a calm learning space

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored learning strategies

  • Adapting resources to meet the diverse needs of pupils

  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can succeed

  • Following safeguarding procedures to ensure pupil safety and welfare

  • What We’re Looking For

    We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience working with KS1 children, ideally in a teaching assistant or learning support role

  • Hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Teaching Assistance, Childcare, or a related area (desirable but not essential)

  • Are patient, nurturing, and passionate about supporting children’s learning and development

  • Are committed to inclusion and helping all children reach their potential

  • Communicate well and enjoy working as part of a team

  • Can adapt learning activities to suit individual needs

  • Location: Midhurst

  • Position: Year 2 Teaching Assistant

  • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (full-time)

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Rate of Pay: From £ per hour

  • Eligibility Criteria

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS check (registered with the update service or willingness to apply)

  • References available upon request

  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete it)
