Prospero Teaching are working closely with a new specialist SEN school site based in Wimborne to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3, helping them re-engage with learning and rebuild confidence in education. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, ideal for individuals with strong behaviour management skills and a genuine passion for pastoral support, mentorship, and re-engagement.

Pupils may present with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs) and Autism, alongside complex emotional or behavioural needs, and require consistent, calm, and structured support throughout the school day. The school provides a nurturing, therapeutic environment with small class sizes, where Teaching Assistants play a crucial role in helping pupils regulate emotions, develop positive relationships, and re-engage with learning.

This role would particularly suit candidates with experience or backgrounds in:

The Role:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Helping pupils re-engage with learning following periods of disrupted education
  • Implementing positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies
  • Providing pastoral care and emotional regulation support
  • Acting as a positive role model and mentor
  • Supporting engagement with academic and therapeutic learning activities
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN professionals, and pastoral teams

Contract Details:

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2/KS3)

  • Hours: Full-time (8:30am - 15:30pm)
  • Rate of Pay: From £95.29 per day (dependent on experience)

Experience, Training & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management skills (essential)
  • SEN experience (SEMH / Autism preferred)
  • Backgrounds in youth work, care, mentoring, or behaviour support welcomed
  • Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete)

Eligibility:

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • References (in line with KCSIE)
