Prospero Teaching is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate KS2 Tutor to support a Year 6 student based in BH21 for 9 hours per week across 3 days.
The student has diagnosed ADHD, emerging ASD needs, and significant social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) barriers which are currently preventing access to mainstream education.
Due to extreme anxiety surrounding education and returning to school, it is essential that the successful tutor is able to take a patient, understanding, and trauma-informed approach.
The student is currently working with a mentor and has made excellent progress.
As a result, he is now demonstrating readiness for more advanced learning that goes beyond the mentor's educational specialism.
We are therefore looking for a tutor who can confidently deliver and lesson plan KS2 Maths and English sessions tailored to his individual needs and abilities.
The primary focus of this provision will be to continue developing the student's confidence, self-esteem, and trust in education.
Academic learning should be introduced gradually and within the context of a strong, positive working relationship.
Building rapport and creating a safe learning environment will be key to long-term success.
The ideal tutor will
Have previous experience delivering KS2 Maths and English.
Be confident planning and adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs.
Have experience working with students who present with SEMH needs, anxiety, ADHD and/or ASD..
