About the Role
We are looking for a qualified and compassionate SEMH Maths & English Tutor to join our team in Wigan for an ASAP start. This part-time role offers GBP30 per hour minimum, with the possibility of a higher rate depending on your availability. You will work with students who have Severe Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, so the ability to manage challenging behaviours and build positive relationships is key.
Sessions will be delivered during school hours, and can take place in school, at the students' home, or online, depending on your availability and student needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised Maths and English lessons to students with SEMH needs, adapting content and delivery to meet individual academic and emotional needs.
- Support students with challenging behaviours, using effective and compassionate strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
- Track student progress and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
- Create and implement individualised lesson plans that take into account students' emotional and academic needs.
Essential Requirements
- You MUST hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to apply for this role.
- At least 6 months of experience teaching or tutoring Maths and English to children.
- At least 6 months of experience working with children with severe SEN, particularly those with SEMH needs.
- You must be cleared to work with children (DBS check required).

The role is part-time, with sessions typically taking place during school hours (Monday to Friday). Sessions can be delivered in school, at the students' home, or online, depending on your availability and the preferences of the student.
