Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced School Business Manager to join a vibrant and developing Therapeutic Alternative Provision in Standish, Wigan. To be considered for this role, candidates must have strong financial experience, with previous work as a School Bursar or Finance Officer highly desirable. You will play a key role in developing and overseeing the provision's budget, as well as negotiating and managing local authority funding for student placements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial and mathematical skills, along with experience in budgeting, HR processes, and the use of school IT systems, including SIMS. Experience working within private or alternative provisions would be a significant advantage.
This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, with a permanent contract available for the right candidate following a successful placement.
As a School Business Manager, you will:
- Develop and oversee the school budget
- Track and manage funding & expenditure in line with the budget
- Negotiate and arrange local authority funding for students
- Assist in staff management in conjunction with the owner
We're Looking For:
- Strong experience within a financial role, preferably as a bursar / finance officer
- Strong financial and mathematical skill set
- Experience with and an understanding around Human Resources
- Knowledge of IT systems and SIMS software
- Experience within a private provision would be preferred
- Diploma in School Business Management (preferred, not mandatory)
