English and Maths Tutor - Halton
Location: Halton, Cheshire
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: October 2026
Duration: Ongoing
The Role
- Deliver individualised tuition in English and Mathematics.
- Strengthen literacy, numeracy, comprehension and problem-solving skills.
- Plan lessons around each learner’s needs, abilities and targets.
- Identify areas requiring additional support and provide targeted intervention.
- Engage learners who may have experienced disrupted education.
- Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies where necessary.
Experience, Training and Qualifications
- QTS, PGCE or an equivalent relevant teaching qualification is desirable.
- Good subject knowledge in English and Mathematics.
- Experience teaching or tutoring school-aged learners.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and a learner-centred approach.
To be eligible for this role, the tutor must
- Hold the right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
- Provide two professional references, including child-related references.
