Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Provide support in Welsh and English, promoting the use of Welsh language across the curriculum and in everyday school life.
  • Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to reinforce learning and aid progression.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN), ensuring an inclusive approach.
  • Help to maintain a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.
  • Contribute to assessment, recording, and reporting of pupils’ progress as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
  • Promote the school’s ethos, values and commitment to bilingualism.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Fluent Welsh and English language skills (spoken and written).
  • Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible, positive and patient approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting pupils with ALN.
  • Knowledge of the Welsh Curriculum.
  • First Aid training.
