Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher.
- Provide support in Welsh and English, promoting the use of Welsh language across the curriculum and in everyday school life.
- Work with individuals and small groups of pupils to reinforce learning and aid progression.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN), ensuring an inclusive approach.
- Help to maintain a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.
- Contribute to assessment, recording, and reporting of pupils’ progress as required.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
- Promote the school’s ethos, values and commitment to bilingualism.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Fluent Welsh and English language skills (spoken and written).
- Experience of working with children in a school or similar setting.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A flexible, positive and patient approach.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
- Experience supporting pupils with ALN.
- Knowledge of the Welsh Curriculum.
- First Aid training.
