Prospero Teaching is looking for enthusiastic and experienced QTS Tutors to provide high-quality, personalised tuition to young people in the Washington area who are currently unable to attend mainstream education. Working with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will deliver tailored sessions in English, Maths, and Functional Skills, adapting your teaching to meet each learner's individual needs. The students you support may have SEND, SEMH, anxiety, medical needs, or have experienced exclusion or other challenges that have affected their education.
The Opportunity
You will be supporting young people on a 1-1 or small group basis who are not currently accessing full-time education for various reasons. Many of our young people have not attended school for some time and may have emotional barriers to learning. As a result, we are seeking nurturing QTS Tutors with a patient, flexible approach and a passion for working closely with students to overcome barriers to learning.
Your role with us:
- Deliver one-to-one or small group tuition in Maths and English, supporting with GCSE and Functional Skills Entry level 3, Level 1 or Level 2.
- Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
- Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning.
- Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.
Pay rate up to £30 per hour depending on qualification and/or experience. Up to 6 hours per week per student. Location: Washington. Duration: ongoing, with the aim to reintegrate the student back into mainstream education. Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials. Access to CPD accredited courses and training.
To be eligible for the QTS Tutor role, you need:
- Previous experience working with young people with SEND such as young people with ADHD, SEMH and students who have been permanently excluded – this role is great for those with previous experience within a PRU.
- QTS or QTLS qualification.
- Hold the right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
- Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment.
