We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a primary prep school setting in SW12.
Role Overview
This role involves providing tailored, individual support to a pupil with ADHD and ASD who is currently finding it challenging to access the curriculum. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child re-engage with learning and build confidence in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Adapt tasks and teaching approaches to meet the pupil's needs
- Support the pupil's focus, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement support strategies
- Help the pupil gradually increase their participation and time in school
Pupil Needs
- Diagnosed ADHD and ASD
- Currently on a reduced timetable (10:00am - 1:00pm), with the aim of increasing this over time
- Requires support with attention, transitions, and accessing learning
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children with SEN (especially ADHD and ASD)
- Calm, patient, and proactive approach
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
- Flexible and resilient, with a positive attitude
- Background in education, psychology, or similar (desirable but not essential)
- Must have Enhanced DBS
Working Hours
Initially 10:00am - 1:00pm, with potential to increase as the pupil's timetable expands.
