Are you passionate about supporting individual children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND in a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school on a long-term basis.
Location: Cannock
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Type of Work: One-to-one support for a child with SEND within a mainstream primary classroom
Contract/Position Start Date: ASAP – Sept
Duration: Ongoing
Contract Type: Long-term (potential to go permanent)
Full Time/Part Time: Full time
Minimum Rate of Pay: Negotiable
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to a child’s educational experience by offering tailored, consistent, and nurturing support.
The Role:
- Provide support for a pupil with specific SEND needs (autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the child's individual needs
- Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development
- Maintain accurate records of progress and share feedback with the wider team
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting (essential)
- Have experience in a role or similar (preferred)
- Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in education or childcare (essential)
- Be calm, compassionate, and proactive in supporting additional needs
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, children, and families
- Hold an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
Requirements to Work with Prospero Teaching:
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold a valid, enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
- Provide two child-related professional references covering the last two years
