Are you passionate about supporting individual children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with SEND in a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school on a long-term basis.

Location: Cannock

Position: SEND Teaching Assistant

Type of Work: One-to-one support for a child with SEND within a mainstream primary classroom

Contract/Position Start Date: ASAP – Sept

Duration: Ongoing

Contract Type: Long-term (potential to go permanent)

Full Time/Part Time: Full time

Minimum Rate of Pay: Negotiable

Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to a child’s educational experience by offering tailored, consistent, and nurturing support.

The Role:

  • Provide support for a pupil with specific SEND needs (autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties)
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the child's individual needs
  • Support the pupil's academic, social, and emotional development
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and share feedback with the wider team
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school setting (essential)
  • Have experience in a role or similar (preferred)
  • Hold a minimum Level 2 qualification in education or childcare (essential)
  • Be calm, compassionate, and proactive in supporting additional needs
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, children, and families
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)

Requirements to Work with Prospero Teaching:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold a valid, enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Provide two child-related professional references covering the last two years
