About the Role
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students aged 5-14.
- Support learners with SEMH, behavioural and additional learning needs.
- Lead targeted intervention programmes to improve engagement and attendance.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, parents and external agencies.
- Manage challenging behaviour using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
- Provide mentoring and one-to-one support to vulnerable students.
- Assist with safeguarding and welfare concerns, ensuring all procedures are followed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU, SEN setting or mainstream school pastoral team.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Experience supporting students with SEMH, ADHD, ASD or trauma-related needs.
- A calm, resilient and empathetic approach.
- Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Education, Health & Social Care, Behaviour Support or a related field are desirable.
Essential Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Two professional references covering the last two years.
- Previous experience supporting young people in an education, youth work or care setting.
