Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Rate: £140 - £232 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

About the School

The school provides a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where pupils are supported to develop emotional regulation, resilience and positive learning behaviours. You will join a dedicated team focused on delivering high-quality education that meets each learner's individual needs.

As an SEMH Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver tailored teaching to primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, using relational and trauma approaches.
  • Plan and differentiate lessons that support EHCP outcomes, emotional development and academic progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, pastoral staff, therapists and parents/carers to ensure consistent, holistic support.
  • Embed emotional regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour through restorative and therapeutic practices.
  • Support progress across academic, social and emotional areas.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience in SEMH or specialist settings, or strong SEMH knowledge within mainstream education.
  • Calm, empathetic and resilient practice with a commitment to trauma teaching.
  • Passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Adaptable teaching methods to meet diverse emotional and learning needs.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide two professional, education-based references.
