Job description

Are you a dedicated individual who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a caring , committed SEMH Tutor in Bournemouth who understands that before learning can take place, trust must be built.

This role is about more than teaching, it’s about creating safe, nurturing relationships where children feel valued, supported, and understood. Many of the children you’ll work with may have faced challenges in trusting adults or engaging with learning. Your role will begin with building strong , consistent connections , supporting them to develop vital life skills, and creating an environment where they feel secure and confident to grow.

  • Position: SEMH Tutor
  • Type of work: Contract
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration / Likely Duration: Dependent on each student
  • End date (if applicable): N/A
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Full time/part time: Part-time (10 to 15 hours per week)
  • Minimum rate of pay: GBP25-30 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Hours Flexible: minimum 1 hour per session and up to 3 hours per session
  • What we’re looking for?

  • Experience working with children with SEMH or SEN needs for at least 6 months.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Creativity in engaging children and adapting learning to their needs.
  • Commitment to helping children thrive both socially and academically.
  • Need an up to date enhanced child’s DBS (willingness to apply for one)
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training
