Overview
Prospero Teaching are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and experienced Tutor to support a young person in Year 9 who requires support with Maths. This learner is currently working at an upper Key Stage 2 level in Maths and English and thrives in a 1:1 learning environment that is calm, encouraging, and nurturing. Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sessions that meet the needs of students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
- Record student progress and report on this weekly.
- Be understanding, empathetic and patient.
- Record attendance.
- Be organised, dependable and creative.
- Be calm, fair and adaptable.
About you
- Experience working with young people in UK schools
- Background in SEN education or alternative provision – desirable but not essential
- Confident delivering Maths and English
- Empathetic, reliable, and calm under pressure
- Able to build trusting relationships and foster a love of learning
- Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs
Position details
- Position – Tutor
- Contract or position start date – ASAP
- Full time/part-time – Opportunities for both
- Hours – 1.5 Hours per week – work with multiple students to build up hours
Essential & Desirable Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools – ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with learners with SEN/SEMH needs
Eligibility
- Hold right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
- Provide references upon request
- Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
