This role is well suited to a Teaching Assistant who understands that pupils may require differentiated support, emotional reassurance and consistent routines to access learning and make progress within Key Stage 2.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils in a Year 4 classroom, including those with SEN or additional needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to help pupils engage with learning
  • Assisting pupils with attention, emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to follow support plans
  • Adapting tasks and resources to meet individual learning needs
  • Being a calm, consistent and supportive presence throughout the school day

The Ideal Candidate

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN in a mainstream setting
  • Be patient, nurturing and able to maintain clear expectations
  • Have an understanding of ADHD, ASD, SEMH or learning difficulties (desirable)
  • Be confident using positive behaviour and de-escalation strategies
  • Be committed to helping pupils develop confidence and independence
