Teaching Assistant SEN

Prospero Teaching are working with an inspirational primary school in South Shields who are looking for a passionate and proactive Teaching Assistant with a British Sing Language qualification to support the learning of a pupils from September going forward. This is an exciting opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their progress and development inside and outside the classroom.

About the School:

  • The role is based in an inspirational primary school in South Shields.
  • You will be supporting 1:1 a child in KS3.
  • The school has an outstanding supportive environment and Leadership Team. With staff cohesion being pivotal, allowing them to work as a Team within classrooms to provide the highest possible standard of support to pupils.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting a KS3 pupil on a 1:1 basis.
  • For this position you would be required to understand / have a British Sign Language qualification to support the child on a day to day basis.
  • A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
  • British Sign Language Qualification
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application

  • Hours: 8:30-3:30
  • Pay: 440- 600 per week
