SEMH Support Worker - Taunton (Term Time Only) Location: Taunton, Somerset Start Date: 2nd November 2026 (Term 2) Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Full-Time, Temp to Perm Recruiter: Prospero Teaching Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in the Taunton area from 2nd November 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and making a genuine difference in their educational journey. Working closely with students who may display challenging behaviours or require additional emotional support, you will play a key role in helping them engage positively with learning, develop coping strategies, and achieve their individual goals. Key Responsibilities: Supporting students with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. Building positive and professional relationships with pupils. Promoting emotional regulation, resilience and self-esteem. Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams. Encouraging attendance, engagement and participation in lessons. The Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations. Background in education, youth work, support work, residential care, sports coaching, mental health support or similar is desirable.
