Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We are seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Taunton, supporting students in Year 5 to Year 11 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Speech, Communication and Language (SCL) needs.
The Role
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and communication needs.
- Assist in implementing individual education plans and behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school or care setting).
- Strong communication and resilience skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and manage challenging behaviour.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
