Role: Pastoral Lead Officer

Pay: £14.66 - £16.00 per hour (dependent on pay type and experience)

Prospero Teaching are working on behalf of a supportive secondary school in Taunton to recruit a Pastoral Lead Officer to join their pastoral team. This role is ideal for an experienced pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour and personal development, and who thrives in a relationship‑led school environment.

The Role:

  • Providing pastoral support to students across the school
  • Supporting students with SEMH, behavioural needs and additional vulnerabilities
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to improve engagement, wellbeing and outcomes
  • Supporting attendance, behaviour and safeguarding processes
  • Acting as a trusted point of contact for students and families
  • Liaising with teaching staff, SEN teams and external agencies
  • Contributing to a positive, safe and inclusive school culture

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has previous experience in a pastoral, behavioural or support‑based role
  • Is confident supporting secondary‑age students with diverse needs
  • Has strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
  • Is empathetic, resilient and calm under pressure
  • Has excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or is willing to apply)
