Prospero Teaching is recruiting on behalf of a vibrant secondary school in Somerset for a Performing Arts Media Technician to support the delivery of high-quality performing arts and media education. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled and creative individual to work in a dynamic school environment.
Position Details:
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am-4:00pm
- Occasional evening/weekend work for productions and rehearsals
- Working Weeks: Term time only (38 weeks + 5 additional days)
- Pay: Β£ per hour (PAYE) Β£ (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on technical support for lessons, rehearsals, and school performances.
- Operate and maintain lighting rigs, sound systems, AV equipment, and editing software.
- Support students and staff in film, music, and media production.
- Manage the digital studio, editing suite, and school theatre.
- Record and edit performance footage for assessments and GCSE moderation.
- Ensure health and safety compliance across all technical operations.
- Collaborate with external agencies and internal departments for events and productions.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience in technical support within education, theatre, or media technology.
- Strong knowledge of lighting, sound, AV systems, and digital editing tools.
- Proficiency in Apple Mac/PC, GarageBand, photography, and theatre design software.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive, student-focused approach.
- A passion for performing arts and a commitment to supporting creative learning.
- Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (Or willing to apply for one).
Qualifications:
- GCSEs in Maths & English (A*-C) or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 4 or relevant technical/media qualification.
- A degree in a related field is advantageous.
