We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to support a 23-year-old young person in Bexley who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The young person presents with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, delayed receptive and expressive language, and mild Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This role is to begin ASAP and will involve providing 1 hour of direct Occupational Therapy per week, alongside contributing to essential EHCP processes. You will update the OT quantification to ensure it is age-appropriate, contribute to the annual review, and provide clear, evidence-based reporting to support the young person's ongoing development, independence, and access to education or adult services.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1 hour per week of direct Occupational Therapy.
- Carry out functional, sensory and occupational assessments appropriate for a young adult with SEND.
- Update the EHCP OT quantification to ensure it is age-relevant and outcome-focused.
- Provide clear, measurable, evidence-based recommendations.
- Contribute to the annual review process and share OT reports/quantification updates.
- Work collaboratively with families, educational settings, and multidisciplinary professionals.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with safeguarding and data protection standards.
Requirements
- BSc/MSc in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- Experience contributing to EHCPs and completing statutory documentation.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Professional indemnity & public liability insurance.
Desirable
- Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
- Experience supporting young adults transitioning from education to adulthood.
- Knowledge of autism, sensory processing needs, or hearing impairments.
- Experience providing training or guidance to families or support staff.
Additional Information
- Consultancy position with flexible, weekly on-site sessions.
- Travel to the young person's home or setting in Bexley may be required.
- All safeguarding and vetting checks must be completed prior to starting.
