Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join a well-established and supportive secondary school in the London Borough of Hillingdon from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 for the right candidate. The successful applicant will be passionate about bringing history to life, fostering curiosity, and helping students develop critical thinking and analytical skills.

The Role

  • Position: History Teacher
  • Location: Hillingdon, West London
  • Start Date: September 2026
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term (with the potential for a permanent position)
  • School: Secondary School
  • Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress.
  • Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the History department and the school.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attainment, and student achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching History in a UK secondary school.
  • Demonstrates excellent subject knowledge and classroom management skills.
  • Is committed to raising achievement and inspiring a love of History.
  • Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
  • Has the right to work in the UK.
