Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Sunderland on a Temporary to Permanent basis, to start from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.

About the Role

  • The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative Food Technology sessions that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
  • Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have SEMH of varying levels as well as challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
  • Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
  • Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
  • Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience

About the School

  • The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Sunderland.
  • The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have SEMH and have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • Food Technology Teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
  • Strong KS3-KS5 Food Technology Subject Knowledge
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
  • Experience of Food Technology Teaching within the UK
  • A genuine passion for Teaching
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
