We are looking for a caring, patient, and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Stockport, where your support will genuinely change a child's school experience. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating calm and structured environments, and helping pupils feel confident, safe, and understood.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASC
  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
  • Implement strategies in line with EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Use structured approaches such as visual timetables and sensory strategies
  • Support behaviour management and promote positive learning outcomes
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with ASC (school or care setting)
  • Understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Relevant training (e.g. autism awareness, safeguarding) is desirable but not essential

Requirements

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references
