About the Opportunity
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced Outreach Tutor to join our team in Staffordshire, with a start date in June 2026. The role involves providing bespoke, 1:1 education for young people with complex needs who are currently unable to attend school.
Responsibilities
- Creating, planning, and delivering highly personalised lessons focused on core subjects such as English and Maths.
- Supporting learners with significant additional needs, including assistance with mobility and the use of wheelchairs.
- Reintroducing structure and routine into the students’ days, fostering academic progress and life-skills development.
- Working alongside Prospero Teaching to monitor progress and offer ongoing support to ensure the best learning outcomes.
- Safeguarding and protecting the welfare of the children and young people you work with.
Qualifications
- QTS, QTLS, PGCE, EYFS, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months experience working in a UK school or with SEN learners.
- Experience with Makaton and/or PECS (highly desirable).
- Up-to-date safeguarding training (desirable, but not essential).
Contract and Position Details
- Location: Community-based or within pupils’ homes in Staffordshire.
- Position: Outreach Tutor (Complex Needs).
- Full-time/Part-time: Part-time, 15–25 hours per week.
- Minimum rate of pay: £25–30 per hour.
- Hours: 1–3 hours per session.
Eligibility
- Hold right to work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or be willing to process a new application).
- Provide two professional child-related references from the last two years.
