Prospero are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to support a 23‑year‑old young person in Bexley who has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The young person presents with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, delayed receptive and expressive vocabulary, and mild Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
This role is to begin ASAP and will involve providing 1 hour of direct Speech and Language Therapy per week, alongside contributing to key EHCP processes. You will be required to update the SALT quantification to ensure it is age‑appropriate, contribute to the annual review, and provide clear, evidence‑based reporting to support progress in communication, independence, and functional life skills.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver 1 hour per week of direct Speech and Language Therapy.
- Conduct specialist communication assessments relevant to a young adult with SEND.
- Update the EHCP SALT quantification to reflect age‑related needs and measurable outcomes.
- Provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations and strategies.
- Contribute to the annual review and provide updated reports/quantification.
- Work collaboratively with families, educational settings, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with safeguarding and GDPR requirements.
- BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registration (essential).
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children or young people with SEND.
- Experience contributing to EHCPs and providing statutory‑level reports.
- Strong assessment, communication, and clinical report‑writing skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
- Professional indemnity & public liability insurance.
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Experience supporting young adults with hearing impairment, ASD, or language disorders.
- Knowledge of communication strategies, AAC, or functional communication work.
- Experience delivering training or guidance to families or support staff.
Additional Information: Consultancy position with flexible weekly contact hours. Travel to the young person's home or setting in Bexley may be required. All safeguarding and vetting checks must be completed before starting.
