This is a deeply rewarding role where you will deliver bespoke tuition to learners who need more than just academic guidance – they need patience, creativity, and someone who believes in their potential.
Hours are completely flexible – choose morning, noon, or evening sessions to suit your schedule.
Work locally in Ilford, supporting students in-home, in the community, or in alternative settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalised tuition in Maths, English and/or Functional Skills to SEN learners, adapted to their EHCP goals or specific support plans.
- Use multi-sensory and differentiated teaching strategies to meet a variety of needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to create a safe and motivating learning environment.
- Track student progress and provide clear feedback to parents, carers, and the wider support team.
- Work independently while remaining connected to the support of our friendly and experienced tuition coordination team.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year experience teaching or tutoring students with Special Education Needs.
- Proficiency in delivering core subjects or Functional Skills content to students with additional needs.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable:
- SEN Qualification such as Understanding Autism certificate, ABA training, etc.
- Teaching qualification, e.g., PGCE or QTS.
- Experience working within alternative provision or 1:1 off-site education.
- Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, non-verbal communication, or sensory processing needs.
