About the Role:
As a Specialised SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to deliver targeted interventions and personalised support for pupils with a range of special educational needs. You’ll help children develop key skills in communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation, ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed and feel valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional and complex needs.
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
Support pupils with social, emotional, and sensory needs in a calm, structured setting.
Use specialist approaches (such as PECS, visual supports, or sensory integration techniques) where appropriate.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
Follow safeguarding and behaviour policies to ensure pupil well-being and safety at all times.
Requirements:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Experience working with children with additional or complex needs in a school or SEN setting.
Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or communication difficulties.
Excellent communication, patience, and resilience.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
