The Role: As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating tailored learning experiences for students with Severe Learning Difficulties. This class will only have 12 students in.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality teaching to students with Special Educational Needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Assess students' progress and adapt teaching strategies to ensure effective learning.
- Work closely with the SENCo and other colleagues to support the inclusion of SEN students in mainstream education.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Liaise with parents and carers to discuss student progress and provide support strategies.
- Contribute to the development of the school's SEN policy and initiatives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching students with Special Educational Needs.
- Strong understanding of a wide range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload of students.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Postgraduate qualifications in SEN, such as a SENCo qualification or Autism Education.
- Experience of working in an SEN setting or school with a diverse range of special needs.
- Knowledge of specific teaching strategies or interventions for SEN students.
