The Role
As a Special Needs Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with a range of additional needs, enabling them to fully engage with their education and reach their individual potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons that are accessible and inclusive
- Help implement individual support plans and learning strategies
- Encourage positive behaviour and support emotional regulation
- Promote independence and confidence in students
- Liaise effectively with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Have experience working with young people, ideally within a school or SEN setting
- Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a caring approach
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident supporting behaviour and diverse learning needs
- Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to supporting student development
Essential Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Two professional references relating to work with children or young people
