About the Role

We're looking for a QTS-qualified Science Tutor to support children and young people across Southampton and the surrounding Hampshire areas through personalised 1:1 tuition. Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll help learners who require alternative educational provision, supporting them to build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve positive outcomes in Science. Many students have experienced disruption to their education and benefit from a tailored approach that meets their individual needs. This is a great opportunity for qualified teachers seeking a more flexible role where they can focus on making a direct impact with individual learners.

Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised Science tuition
  • Adapt learning to suit individual needs and learning styles
  • Support students in building confidence and academic progress
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage engagement
  • Monitor progress and provide session feedback where required

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting, including teaching, or tutoring
  • Strong Science subject knowledge up to GCSE
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, adaptable, and proactive approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
