Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic Community Tutor to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings on a full-time and long-term basis. The work is based in South Shields. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role:
- The role will involve delivering engaging intervention sessions to support young people with their engagement, progress and attitude towards learning.
- The pupils will have varying levels of SEMH as well as challenging behaviour.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
- Differentiating sessions appropriately to suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
About the School:
The role is based in a Community Centre setting, supporting pupils who attend a PRU in South Shields. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a Team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.
Pay, Hours and Contract:
- Pay – Between £100-150 per day
- Hours – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2026.
- Contract – Temporary Contract.
- Start Date – ASAP.
- Location – South Shields.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
- An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
- Learning Support or Teaching experience in either Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
- Strong Behaviour Management skills.
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum.
- Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport.
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work.
- Experience of Teaching within the UK.
- A genuine passion for Teaching.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
