Prospero Teaching are working with an SEND School in South Shields who are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant with a BSL qualification/experience to support pupils with Hearing Impairments to start asap. For the right candidate, the role is highly likely to become permanent.

- Contract β Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.

About the Role
- The role will involve supporting pupils with Hearing Impairments on a 1:1 basis.
- The School also supports pupils with a range of SEN such as varying levels of ASD, ADHD, PMLD, MLD and SEMH.
- Additionally, some pupils may be none-verbal and some may require Personal Care so a willingness to support pupils in these contexts is key.
- A key part of the role will be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements
- A BSL Qualification (Desired), or a Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK with Hearing Impairments.
- An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
- A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
- Hold Right to Work in the UK.
- Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
- Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years.
