Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex needs
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and feeding where required
- Support learning activities tailored to individual education plans (EHCPs)
- Use communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory strategies
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly PMLD, SLD, or complex autism
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Willingness to support with personal care
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
