SEND Teaching Assistant – EYFS / KS1
Location: Handsworth, Birmingham (B20)
Position Type: Full-Time | Term Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 3:30PM)
Start Date: September 2025
Pay Rate: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)
Contract Type: Long-Term, with potential to become permanent

Are you a caring and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting young children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Prospero Teaching is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Handsworth (B20) to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support in EYFS and KS1. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can provide consistent academic and emotional support, helping children feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

About the Role:
· Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils in EYFS and KS1 with SEND
· Foster a positive and trusting relationship that promotes children’s confidence and independence
· Support pupils early learning, communication, and social development in line with their EHCPs
· Assist with phonics, early literacy, and numeracy development in a nurturing environment
· Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver consistent support

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
· Experienced in working with children with SEND (Autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, or global developmental delay)
· Nurturing, patient, and empathetic, with a child-centred approach
· Confident in supporting early years learning and EYFS/KS1 curriculum
· Calm under pressure, with a flexible and proactive approach
· A strong communicator and team player, able to collaborate with staff and parents

Essential Requirements:
· Right to Work in the UK
· A valid Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
· Two recent, child-related professional references (covering the last two years)
· Knowledge of EYFS/KS1 curriculum and inclusive teaching strategies
