Prospero Teaching are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Class Teacher to work in one of our inspirational SEND Schools in Darlington on a full‑time and long‑term basis to start ASAP. Applications from ECTs are welcome to apply. The School supports pupils across the Primary and Secondary age range with a wide‑range of learning disabilities as well as physical disabilities.

About the Role:

  • The role will involve planning and delivering lessons to small classes of pupils with a wide range of SEND and challenging behaviour, including Severe Learning Difficulties, ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Some pupils may be none‑verbal or pre‑verbal, so the relationship‑building skills and resilience of the successful candidate will be key.
  • Stretching and challenging the learning and progress of all pupils.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
  • A key part of the role will be to differentiate lessons appropriately and work effectively alongside other members of staff to ensure all pupils are able to make progress and are taught in a way that is suited to their individual needs and learning styles.

About the School:

The role is based in an inspirational SEND School in Darlington. The School supports pupils across the Primary School age‑range with a range of SEND such as SLD, ASD, ADHD and SEMH. The School has an outstanding supportive culture and Leadership Team, where staff work as a team within classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils.

Pay, Hours and Contract:

  • Contract – Full‑time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.
  • Start Date – ASAP.
  • Location – Darlington.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but may be processed).
  • QTS and Primary School Teaching experience within the UK.
  • Experience of short, medium and long‑term planning.
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with an ability to build rapport.
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills.
