This highly respected specialist school is seeking a compassionate and resilient Intervention Support Assistant to support students with SEMH, ASD and trauma‑related needs across classroom, outreach and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide calm, consistent emotional and behavioural support to students
- Supervise pupils in classrooms, sensory spaces, and during breaks and transitions
- Support individual and small group learning under teacher direction
- Apply trauma‑informed approaches, including de‑escalation and co‑regulation
- Respond effectively to incidents of distress, ensuring safety and wellbeing
- Support transitions and reintegration into learning
- Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff
- Maintain accurate records (behaviour logs, incident reports)
- Attend safeguarding, behaviour, and mental health training
Essential Requirements
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. youth work, social care, education)
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent)
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH, ASD, or complex SEND
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple settings
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable
- Experience in education, care, youth work, or health settings
- Relevant additional qualifications (Level 2/3)
- First Aid or Mental Health First Aid training
