Job description

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting Tutors in Sherborne, Dorset to support young people in the local area. If you’re an experienced education professional looking for a flexible and fulfilling role, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Learners:

Many of the young people we work with have additional needs, including:

  • SEN (Special Educational Needs)
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
  • Trauma-related challenges
  • Or may be at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX)
  • About you:

    We’re seeking strong Tutors with at least 1 year of experience in UK schools in roles such as:

  • Tutor
  • Teacher
  • Cover Supervisor
  • Teaching Assistant
  • ELSA
  • 1:1 Support Worker
  • Or similar educational roles
  • As a Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual learner needs
  • Plan and prepare engaging, differentiated lessons
  • Support learners with additional needs including SEN, SEMH, trauma, or those at risk of PEX
  • Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress
  • Monitor and report on student progress and attendance
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Experience working with learners with additional needs is essential.

    Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with young people Experience of working with learners with SEN
  • To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

  • Hold right to work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide references upon request
  • Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
