Prospero Teaching is seeking passionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to support a range of SEN schools and Alternative Provisions across Southampton. These settings offer a highly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs, behavioural challenges, or barriers to learning. Many of these schools are offering temp-to-perm opportunities for candidates who demonstrate commitment, consistency, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing personalised support to children with a range of special educational needs
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of creative, therapeutic, and inclusive activities
- Promoting safety, emotional well-being, and positive engagement
- Supporting pupils with daily routines, emotional regulation, and developing independence
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families through clear and consistent communication
Contract Details
- Location: Southampton and surrounding areas
- Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
- Start Date: ASAP
- Contract Type: Full-time, with temp-to-perm pathways available
- Pay Rate: From £13.96 per hour
- Working Hours: 08:30 – 15:30
Requirements
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child-barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
- Provide professional references covering the past 24 months, ideally involving work with children or vulnerable individuals
- Hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, or a related field (or have relevant experience)
