Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)

Location: Knowsley, Liverpool

Start Date: September 2025

Salary: GBP105–GBP115 per day

Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only

About the Role: We are recruiting dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant and supportive special primary school in Knowsley, Liverpool. The school caters to pupils aged 4 to 11 with complex autism and/or learning difficulties. This is a community-focused school that values communication, social interaction, independence, and emotional well-being. Staff work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support and general classroom assistance
  • Support pupils with their learning, communication, and daily routines
  • Encourage independence and social skills through positive reinforcement
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored interventions

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months classroom experience in the UK
  • Experience working with children with SEND, particularly ASD and/or SLD, is desirable
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable learners in a special needs setting
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and staff

Eligibility

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child Barred List DBS (on the Update Service or willing to apply)
  • Two professional references related to childcare or education
  • Available to work full-time from September
