Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Area: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Start Date: January/February 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Part-Time
Salary: Β£105-Β£120 per day (depending on experience)
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected specialist school in Tameside that offers a calm, structured, and supportive setting for children and young people aged 11-19. The school caters for pupils with Autism, ADHD, mild to severe learning disabilities, as well as a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. About the Role

Support pupils in the classroom, working 1:1 or with small groups

  • Help deliver engaging lessons under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Assist pupils with additional needs, promoting confidence, communication, and positive behaviour
  • Provide encouragement and motivation – in class, during activities, or on the playground
  • Act as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils\’ social and emotional development

What We\’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people (school, youth work, sports coaching, volunteering or similar)
  • Patient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
  • Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour
  • Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed

Eligibility Requirements

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
  • Provide two professional child-related references
