Location: Kirklees & Calderdale

Salary: GBP160 - GBP240 per day (dependent on experience)

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored, engaging lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with additional learning requirements. You will work closely with support staff, SENCOs, therapists, and families to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

You may work with pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD)
  • Complex and additional needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support pupil engagement and progress.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil achievement and development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and parents.
  • Support the implementation and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of a range of special educational needs and associated strategies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
