Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual Support: Provide targeted assistance to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

  • Classroom Assistance: Support the class teacher in creating an inclusive, engaging, and accessible learning environment.

  • Interventions: Deliver focused interventions to support literacy, numeracy, communication, and social development.

  • Behaviour Management: Apply positive behaviour support strategies to promote a calm and productive classroom.

  • Progress Monitoring: Observe and record pupil progress, sharing feedback with the class teacher and SENCO.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with staff, parents, and external professionals to support student development.

  • Safeguarding: Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure pupil well-being.

  • Position: SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant

  • Contract Type: Long-term (ongoing)

  • Start Date: November 2024

  • Hours: Full-time, 8:20 AM – 3:45 PM

  • Rate of Pay: From Β£ per day

  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualification: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

  • Experience: Minimum of 12 weeks supporting children with SEN in a UK school setting.

  • Training: Up-to-date safeguarding and SEN training desirable (training can be provided).

  • Eligibility Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
