Prospero Teaching is recruiting a dedicated and experienced SENCo to join a specialist secondary school in Portsmouth that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to lead and shape inclusive practice in a nurturing and highly supportive environment.

Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance
Hours: Full-Time
About the Role
- Lead the development and delivery of the school\’s SEND strategy
- Coordinate provision for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, ensuring tailored support and measurable progress
- Work closely with teaching staff, support teams, and external agencies to implement effective interventions
- Oversee EHCPs, referrals, and statutory reviews, maintaining accurate records and compliance
- Provide training and guidance to staff to promote inclusive and trauma-informed practice
- Champion a whole-school approach to wellbeing, resilience, and personalised learning
What We\’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in a SENCo role or a strong interest in SEND/SEMH with a willingness to undertake SENCo training
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- A commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
SENCo training will be provided for the right candidate.
Eligibility Requirements
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child-barred list DBS certificate registered with the update service (or be willing to apply)
- Provide two professional child-related references
- Have up-to-date safeguarding training (or be willing to complete this)
