Prospero Teaching is delighted to be supporting a specialist primary school in Poole as they seek a dedicated SEN Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This nurturing, inclusive school supports primary‑aged pupils with SEMH needs and Autism, many of whom also present with additional complex needs requiring a highly individualised approach.
About the Role
The teacher will teach a primary curriculum adapted for pupils with SEMH needs, Autism and complex profiles. The suitable candidate will be expected to plan and deliver a progressive curriculum across the Key Stages, ensuring aspirational outcomes and supporting pupils on their future pathways.
You will:
- Deliver high‑quality, individualised teaching to pupils with SEMH needs, Autism and mixed complex needs
- Plan and deliver an engaging, multi‑sensory curriculum aligned with pupils' EHCP outcomes
- Create and adapt resources to support communication, accessibility and meaningful engagement
- Foster pupils' emotional regulation, social development and wellbeing through consistent routines and nurturing relationships
- Work collaboratively with therapists, behaviour specialists, support staff and families to provide coordinated, holistic care
- Promote independence, communication and resilience through highly differentiated teaching approaches
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, supportive team within a specialist primary setting
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally SEMH and Autism
- Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice, emotional regulation strategies and inclusive pedagogy
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex or additional needs (training provided)
- Creativity, resilience and a warm, nurturing approach
- A genuine passion for helping every child achieve their full potential

- Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00
