Make a Real Difference in Young People’s Lives. Prospero Teaching is working closely with schools in the South Tyneside area to provide specialist, one-to-one tuition and SEMH support for local students. We are currently recruiting qualified tutors to deliver English and maths tuition to students who may need additional support to achieve their potential.
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated tutors who support students who may be experiencing emotional, social or behavioural challenges. Many learners may not be fully engaged with mainstream education and benefit from personalised tuition that combines academic support with SEMH strategies. Tuition is delivered in person, which may take place in:
- Community venues
- Alternative provision settings
- Occasionally, students’ home environments
Pay rate: Competitive, dependent on qualifications and experience
Hours: Up to full-time (exact hours to be confirmed) – Start date: April 2026 (ongoing roles available)
Location: South Tyneside
Duration: Ongoing

Your Role With Us
- Deliver one-to-one or small-group tuition in Maths and English
- Provide SEMH support alongside academic tuition

- Create a positive, supportive learning environment to build confidence
- Complete attendance records and progress reports
To Be Eligible, You Must:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have experience supporting students with SEMH needs
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced DBS (child barred list) registered on the update service, or be willing to apply for one
- Provide references covering the last two years of employment or education
