We are seeking an experienced GCSE Maths and English Tutor to support students in Salford, with a strong focus on learners with Severe Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role involves delivering personalised, one-to-one tuition to students who require specialist support to engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve progress within the UK GCSE curriculum.
This position is ideal for tutors who have proven experience teaching GCSE Maths and English within the UK curriculum and who are confident supporting children and young people with complex SEN needs in a 1:1 setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver tailored one-to-one GCSE Maths and English tuition aligned with the UK GCSE curriculum.
- Adapt teaching methods, lesson pace, and resources to meet the individual needs of students with severe SEN.
- Support learners with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties, and other complex learning needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Develop students' confidence, subject understanding, and exam readiness where appropriate.
- Monitor and report on student progress, providing clear feedback to parents, carers, and professionals involved in the students' support network.
- Minimum 1 year of experience tutoring or teaching GCSE Maths and English within the UK GCSE curriculum.
- Proven experience working with children or young people with Severe SEN in a one-to-one or small-group setting.
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies for complex learning needs.
- Patient, adaptable, and confident approach to behaviour and emotional regulation support.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Must have, or be willing to undertake, an Enhanced DBS check.
- PGCE in Secondary Education and/or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other complex SEN profiles.
- Familiarity with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
- Experience preparing students for GCSE examinations and functional skills qualifications.
